IMPLANT

A dental implant is an artificial root that is placed into the bone to replace the functions of a missing tooth. The implant is made of a titanium alloy, a biocompatible metal that is safe and reliable. Unlike organ transplants, there is no issue of tissue rejection.

Undoubtedly, the lifespan of the implant is determined by the individual’s oral hygiene, just like with natural teeth. In patients who prioritize oral hygiene and receive regular check-ups from their dentist, implants are considered 95% successful. However, factors such as heavy smoking, poor care, excessive alcohol consumption, or similar habits can negatively affect the success rate.

The placement of a dental implant takes only 2-3 minutes. However, the process of preparing the patient under sterile conditions, waiting for anesthesia, and suturing extends the procedure to about 30 minutes. It is a painless procedure, and as long as the patient maintains proper oral hygiene, there is no pain in the postoperative period. Swelling may occur depending on the number of implants and the opening and closing of tissues.

In cases of insufficient bone volume, a bone graft (in the form of powder) is applied to the patient.

Dental implants are primarily used to restore chewing function that has been lost due to missing teeth. Concerns related to aesthetics are not related to the implant itself but rather to the technological prostheses that are placed on top of the implants.
